O/L EXAM SUCCESS SECRETS: TIPS FROM HIGH ACHIEVER

“Nepulma Mansadee, a high achiever who secured an impressive milestone of 9A’s in the final O/L exam, generously shares her invaluable advice and tips.”

“Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.”

1. Plan the week.

Create a study schedule for the week by breaking down topics into manageable sections. Allocate specific time slots for each subject, include regular review sessions, and prioritize difficult topics. Include time for breaks for rest and relaxation to maintain focus. Adjust the plan based on progress and unforeseen circumstances. If you’ve missed some work, try to shift it to another day within the week.

2. Practice with past papers.

Allocate the last three months for past papers, preferably from 2016 onwards. By doing past papers, you’ll notice recurring questions, enabling you to anticipate potential questions for your final exam. Additionally, practicing past papers helps in time management during the final exam and boosts confidence levels. This is a crucial tip.

3. Prepare mind maps and short notes.

After studying a lesson, create a mind map or short notes using key points. This method
enhances understanding, clarity, and provides a quick review tool before exams.

4.Do mock exams.

Set time according to the paper and do it by yourself without using any study materials, mark the paper and check the mark. Often, your O/L exam results can hinge on the marks obtained in these mock exams. Aim to maintain an average above 80, as it paves the way for 9A’s. Good marks in these mock exams also bolster confidence levels for the final exam.

5. Study through understanding, instead of memorizing.

Memorization retains facts for a shorter duration and requires multiple study sessions. Understanding fosters long-term memory retention and aids in answering essay questions effectively.
